For a while now, we have been hearing claims that social media radicalize the American electorate, and that social media damage teen mental health. Well, we just held a major set of elections that produced resoundingly moderate results, repudiations of both Trump and the extreme Democratic left. You may or may not like those results, but they are pretty clearly moderate. And the recent trends in teen mental health are positive. All the while social media usage continues unabated, and furthermore short video continues to rise. Neither the political nor the mental health trend is guaranteed to continue, but this is a sign that the standard anti-social media polemics are radically incomplete and currently failing in their predictions. The post Social media and political radicalization appeared first on Marginal REVOLUTION.
